On behalf of the entire Hampton Special Education Advisory Committee (SEAC), thank you for taking the time to visit our website and for your interest in the SEAC.
We invite you to explore the website to learn more about the committee’s purpose, membership and explore the resources that we have placed for you. Please follow us on Facebook and sign up for our e-mail list to receive updates regarding meetings and events.
You will notice that the posted schedule lists all SEAC meetings and parent trainings for the upcoming year. Please consider attending these. We are fortunate to have knowledgeable and experienced presenters sharing information on an array of topics this year to
include evidence-based educational practices, advocacy, transitions,
special education policies and much more. They are eager to answer any questions you may have.
We also invite you to attend the meetings to make a public comment. Public comments can be presented orally or written down and read anonymously by a SEAC member. Public comments are a great way to let our HCS leadership and SEAC know of concerns that you have regarding special education, or they can be related to successes that you would like to share.
Attending meetings is also an excellent way to meet committee members, special education coordinators, our special education director and other school leadership who regularly attend our meetings. You will meet other families who are on a journey similar to yours and these relationships and discussions will prove to be invaluable as you navigate the world of special education and beyond for your student.
We are passionate about ensuring that every special needs child in Hampton City Schools receives the appropriate education and supports that will enable him/her to reach his/her fullest potential. Please share suggestions with us any time and if you are able, consider joining the committee. We are always looking for caring individuals who are willing to learn and work collaboratively to help ensure that we serve “every child, every day, whatever it takes”.
Thank you again for your interest in the SEAC. If you have any questions or have suggestions for items to post on our website or topics for presentations, please don’t hesitate to contact me. We are always eager to hear from you and your students.
Best wishes to you,
The 2020-2021 Committee
